Steps for adding analytics code to your website:-

  1. Visit www.google.com/analytics/ to sign up or sign in to Google Analytics with your Google username and password. 
  2. After successful login go to Add Site . For first time sign up case .you will be required to type in your website address, an account name for your website, your country, and your time zone in addition to your contact information.
  3. Accept the user agreement. You will be asked to read and accept the user agreement for Google Analytics before you can finish creating an account for Google Analytics.  
  4. Basically tracking code is a string of HTML code  you will copy and paste on every page of your website you want to track statistics for.  
  5. After accepting the user agreement, you will be taken to a page that contains the HTML tracking code for your website. 
  6. Copy this script  code and paste inside <head>..................tracking code</head> section. Refresh your site with index page .
